New Edition of Google Analytics Alternatives!

I’m very excited to announce the release of the 2nd edition of Google Analytics Alternatives!

The new edition is now available for sale worldwide:
$25 for the PDF and ePub edition via Gumroad
$25 for the Kindle edition via Amazon
$30 for the print edition via Amazon

Since the Gumroad edition pays a much higher commission rate I encourage purchases there, but the content is the same on all platforms. The product comparison Google Sheet is available at gaalternatives.guide/sheet.

What’s new in the 2nd edition?

The book now covers Adobe Analytics, Piano, and Umami, in addition to 12 other tools that appeared in the 1st edition.

The guide section of the book now covers: server-side, bot filtering, consent, and AI’s role in analytics.

Large parts of the book have been revised and rewritten for changes in the field since 2022.

While the book is roughly 60% longer than the first edition, I still try and keep reviews succinct and focused on what is different about that particular tool’s approach and where it might be lacking.

The book remains 100% human-written. Even the bad jokes (sorry).

Some questions:

Q: If I bought the first edition, do I get a discount?
A: If you purchased via Gumroad, you should have received a discount code via email. If you purchased via Amazon, email me (jason [at] quantable [dot] com) and I will be happy to provide a discount code for the new version on Gumroad. Unfortunately I can’t support discounts on Amazon.

Q: How come the analytics tool I want to see in the book isn’t reviewed?
A: I limit my reviews to tools that are clear & direct replacements for GA with at least .1% market share within the top 1M websites.

Q: Can’t you just tell me which is the best one, I’m not going to read a 250 page book about it.
A: No, it depends on your use case. All of the tools I review are the right fit for someone and have significant market traction. You can also hire me and I can help you select one.

Q: Why’d you stop publishing your tables of the most popular tools?
A: I don’t believe the quality of the data is good enough for trending and ranking anymore.

Q: When is volume three of your and Josh Silverbauer’s fantastic analytics rock opera User Journey coming out?
A: Thank you for asking this definitely real and frequently-asked question. Not for a while still, might not be until late 2026 or 2027.
